Un día vas a trabajar y descubres que tus habilidades técnicas son obsoletas. El lenguaje de programación que mejor conoces ha ido disminuyendo en popularidad durante una década. Las habilidades web que dominabas se han modificado completamente.
Sientes que tu crecimiento se ha atrofiado: hay habilidades que deberías haber estado aprendiendo, pero nunca lo hiciste porque no las necesitabas en el trabajo. Tus compañeros parecen saber todo acerca de las últimas herramientas y tú no, y eventualmente, quizás pronto, simplemente te quedarás atrás.
Habilidades obsoletas en el trabajo
¿Qué debes hacer?, ¿cómo puedes salir de este lío y salvar tu carrera? Primero acéptalo, “quienes tienen un empleo deben estar conscientes que las habilidades se vuelven obsoletas cada dos años”, advierte Mónica Flores, directora de ManpowerGroup en México en una entrevista para Forbes.
“Es importante empatar la oferta y demanda laboral, 50% de los empleadores dice que el talento no es el adecuado, nos enfrentamos a un reto enorme para encontrar las competencias necesarias en el siglo XXI“, dijo Mónica Flores, de ManpowerGroup.
Esto se traduce a quienes buscan trabajo en México no tienen los perfiles adecuados para ocupar las vacantes disponibles y eso hace que 50% de las empresas tarden demasiado en cubrir los puestos, explica la ejecutiva de ManpowerGroup.
De acuerdo con la encuesta que Manpower aplicó a empleadores, el 80% de estos no prevén cambios en el número de empleados, 14% planea hacer nuevas contrataciones y 4% prevé despidos en el tercer trimestre de 2019. Esto significa que ocho de cada diez empleadores prevé mantener la plantilla laboral sin cambios abruptos. Quizá no exista un despido masivo, pero queda expuesto el rezago en empleo.
Empresas no hallan talento que necesitan
Mónica Flores asegura a Forbes que en México existe un doble reto porque “50% de las empresas no encuentra el talento que necesita para llenar sus vacantes y el 3.6% de la población en edad de trabajar no encuentra empleo”.
Dentro de los campos laborales donde es más difícil llenar las vacantes son en matemáticas, tecnología, ciencias e ingeniería. No te alarmes, es posible mantener tus habilidades actualizadas como parte de tu trabajo.
Una propuesta para cerrar la brecha entre la oferta y demanda las empresas requieren invertir en entrenamiento y capacitación para los empleados. Recuerda, si buscas o tienes ya un empleo necesitas invertir esfuerzos, tiempo, y dinero en estar al día en tu área profesional mercado.
Las industrias y las tecnologías cambian tan rápido que las habilidades que necesitas para tener éxito en este momento no son las mismas que necesitarás en cinco o 10 años.
Las estimaciones del Foro Económico Mundial revelan que 65% de los niños que ingresaron a la escuela primaria tan pronto como 2016 terminarán laborando en trabajos que aún no existen.
Un informe publicado por PwC, “Fuerza laboral del futuro”, destacó la tendencia. Encuestó a 10 mil personas y encontró que las carreras típicas, en las que una persona avanza a través de las filas de un campo en particular, “dejarán de existir” cada vez más, ya que la inteligencia artificial y los robots reemplazan a los trabajadores humanos.
Sin embargo, también debes estar al tanto de las cosas que han cambiado. Si permaneces demasiado tiempo en la parte plana te encontrarás aburrido y sin trabajo. Entonces, ¿Cómo te preparas ahora para trabajar en una industria que cambia tan rápidamente, que los roles ni siquiera existen excepto en la mente del próximo Steve Jobs?
